We don't need an engagement shoot...right??
Wrong. Well...while technically right, let me share with you a few reasons I really do recommend it:
Get to Know your Photographer
One of the largest reasons I recommend having an engagement shoot before your wedding is so you can get to know your wedding photographer (and why I offer complimentary engagement sessions with some of my packages)! Your wedding is a special day, but I'd be lying if I said it would be a relaxing one. The ability to meet your photographer, beyond a video call, does wonders for feeling comfortable with them and knowing what to expect. It's also a great opportunity to test out your photographer to see if you want to go with them for the big day!
Feel more comfortable
Another LARGE reason I recommend an engagement shoot is for you both to feel more comfortable in front of the camera! More times than not, couples are worried that they're not "photogenic" or "too shy" for the camera. On your engagement session, it is my job is to prove you wrong. After having fun during the shoot and shortly receiving your photos, I want you to see just how AMAZING you both look on camera. Come wedding day, this will help put your nerves at ease and truly enjoy the process, as you already trust your photographer based on first-hand experience. Engagement photos are also a great way to test out your wedding-day hair and makeup. This way, you'll be able to visualize just how everything will look in the photos, and calm any salon uncertainty for your big day.

Aside from the two previous realistic reasons to have an engagement session, one that shouldn't be pushed aside is the actual benefit of having engagement photos. You change and grow so much in the small course of a year, especially together as a couple. Engagement photos allow you to capture your love in its purest nature, aside from any timelines or agendas. Also, engagement photos serve as amazing Save the Dates or wedding decor! The luxury of capturing your engagement session is unparalleled and I highly recommend it to anyone who is on the edge. It will be so worth it (especially 10 years from now-- you will look much different in your natural element together than how you both look on your wedding day)!!!
